Joe Stoshack has a paranormal ability: he can use baseball cards and photographs from the past to travel backwards and forwards in time. In this installment in the "Baseball Card Adventure" series, Joe and his mother go to 1863 to ask Abner Doubleday if he really invented baseball (and to bring back his autograph). They arrive in Gettysburg at the height of the battle. They witness some of the key moments of the Civil War era, but are disappointed in their quest to connect General Doubleday to the national pastime.
